Description:Project personnel focused on two objectives: a) research on conservation engineering, and b) technical assistance. The former objective involves identifying and researching fishing gear and practices that can be made more selective to the marine resources encountered by the gear and less impacting to the environment. The first objective also involves researching and promoting changes or modifications in fishing practices made necessary by action or intended action by DMF or New England Fishery Management Council (NEFMC). The second objective requires communicating with various governmental agencies, institutions and individuals with information on the application of fisheries technology in relation to management and conservation.
