Description:The original project goals and objectives were to provide training to displaced fishermen which would allow them to move out of the declining fishing industry and into the U. S. Merchant Marines. The success of the project is measured by the percentage of students graduating and finding employment in the U.S. Merchant Marines. No modifications were made to the goals and objectives of the grant. The goals and objectives of the project were in fact met, as displayed by the 52 out of 55 students graduating and obtaining employment outside the fishing industry.
