Description:In this project, Virginia continued the reefrestoration efforts by constructing a second oyster reef in the Great Wicomico River near Cranes Creek (Figure 1 ). Since 1993, fifteen construction projects have been completed throughout Virginia's portion of the Chesapeake Bay (Figure 2). The reef restoration effort began with the hypothesis that three-dimensional reefs would be "better" habitat for oysters and other associated species. Since oysters evolved in these structures, it was surmised that the structure itself was important.
