Description:This was New Jersey's first step toward becoming a more active partner in the Atlantic Coastal Cooperative Statistics Program (ACCSP) and towards standardizing the reporting and processing of harvest data from the state's commercial :fisheries. Reports from the blue crab pot and dredge :fisheries that included daily harvest and effort data were entered and submitted monthly by the Division of Fish & Wildlife (Division) to the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). The NMFS in turn incorporated these data into ACCSP's data warehouse. Blue crab and conch by-catch landings for 2002, 2003 and through August 2004 have been processed and submitted. An added benefit from this project was the increased compliance for monthly reporting by the blue crab fishery. The average reporting rate from 1999 through 2001 was fifty percent, which increased to over eighty percent for 2003.
