Description:Mr. Shafer D. Case, Jr. of WSFO Charleston, WV, has been evaluating the performance of the LFM Model in forecasting precipitation for Charleston, WV. To date, his study covers the spring months of April, May, and June, 1972. The precipitation forecasts evaluated are for the 12 to 24-hour period after initial data time. The LFM Model forecast is received on facsimile in time to be used operationally as guidance for the first forecast period for the forecasts released near 4 AM and 4 PM local time. In this evaluation, LFM Model forecasts of .01 inch or greater, are considered categorical forecasts of precipitation.
