Description:The FAA is concerned with the impact of severe storms on the safe and efficient flight of aircrft, and they asked NSSL for their evaluation of what is known about this important problem and this is part of the NSSL reply. It is rereleased now to adjust to the new reflectivity values, but more importantly to bring this important material to the attention of newer briefers and to refresh the memory of others, in preparation for the convective season now starting. *See also ERH Technical Attachment, 2/16/70, "Examples of Turbulence Associated with Thunderstorms and Related Radar Echoes."
