Description:An intense winter storm buffeted the Northeast Coast of the U. S. on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, December 1 - 3, 1974. Heavy rain or snow affected many inland areas and gale and storm winds wracked the coast. The wind patterns associated with this storm will be the subject of this brief technical note. The LFM model did an outstanding job of predicting the development and motion of this major storm, and there is little question but that the fine performance of the LFM model is recognized by all forecasters and major use made of it by them.
