Description:In 2020, the National Mussel Watch Program (MWP) assessed the presence, magnitude, and distribution of legacy organic contaminants in coastal waters in South Carolina and Florida, the latter in collaboration with the Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory (AOML). The MWP utilized a sentinel-based monitoring approach by collecting and analyzing bivalves as surrogates for coastal water pollution.
