Description:At WSFO Washington, D.C. (WBC), a three-month (July through September, 1983) test of routine mesoscale surface analysis was initiated by Mr. Ross LaPorte (MIC). The purpose of the test was not so much to prove that mesoscale diagnosis could improve our forecasts but rather to address the problem of restructuring our work environment to make this type of diagnosis more systematic. This report describes the test and summarizes the results.
