Description:In order to address these national goals and partially fulfill NOAA's responsibilities in the Great Lakes, the Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL) began a research program in cooperation with the Office of Marine Pollution Assessment (recently renamed the Ocean Assessment Division (OAD) of the National Ocean Services, NOAA), whose goal is the development of a capability to predict the environmental consequences of persistent synthetic organic contaminants in the Great Lakes ecosystem
