Description:"River stage forecasts have been routinely issued for years by National Weather Service Forecast Offices (WSFO's). More recently, some WSFO's have begun to produce quantitative precipitation forecasts (QPF). To date, relatively little automated verification of river forecasts has been conducted. In addition, a local automated QPF verification program only recently became available. Consequently, it has been difficult to objectively evaluate river forecasts, and to a lesser extent QPF, and provide useful feedback to the forecaster"--Introduction.
