Description:"On 20-21 November 1989, intense low pressure moved across southern Canada to the Gulf of Maine. A cold front crossed New York and Pennsylvania during the late afternoon and evening of 20 November. Although the airmass ahead of the cold front was quite dry and apparently stable, severe thunderstorms developed in an atmosphere with strong environmental winds and considerate shear in the lower troposphere""--Introduction.
