Description:World production of pen-farmed salmon doubled from 33,800 metric tons (t) in 1984 to 71,800 t in 1986. Approximately 90 percent of the world's production of farmed salmon in 1986 came from Norway, the United Kingdom, and Japan. Ireland, Chile, and the Faroe Islands contributed about 6 percent of the world's salmon production.
