Description:NOAA is facing a number of critical environmental issues such as marine pollution, fisheries depletion, and global climate change. To address these and other issues of importance, NOAA is establishing a NOAA Center for Ocean Analysis and Prediction (COAP) in Monterey, California. The COAP will build upon the work now being carried out by two groups that are co-located in Monterey: the Pacific Fisheries Environmental Group (PFEG) and the Ocean Applications Group (OAG). This Center will address problems related to fisheries productivity, coastal pollution, ocean climate variability, and marine habitat monitoring.
