Description:This review summarizes the available literature for the sources, environmental concentrations, and degradation of amoxicillin in the aquatic environment as well as reported ecotoxicological effects of amoxicillin on aquatic organisms. Finally, we present information regarding the various mechanisms by which antibiotic resistance can develop within microbial communities.
