Description:Perhaps the single most important mission of the National Weather Service (NWS) is to alert the public of life-threatening severe storms with hail, high winds, tornadoes, flash floods and/or lightning. Significant improvements are needed in NWS forecasting, especially in alerting the public to flash floods and hazardous lightning.
