Shipping is an important industry to southern California, with the Ports of Los Angeles (POLA) and Long Beach (POLB) experiencing steady, substantial growth over the last 20 years. Currently, these ports facilitate over 470 billion $US in trade annually (Port of Long Beach and Port of Los Angeles websites).
