  The sixth triennial bottom trawl-survey of the Aleutian rslands and southern Bering Sea region was completed during the summer of 1997 by the Resource Assessment and Conservation Engineering (RACE) Division of the Alaska Fisheries Science Center (AFSC), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Seattle, WA. The triennial groundfish surveys are designed to describe and monitor the distribution, abundance, and biological condition of the important groundfish stocks in the Aleutian Islands area.
