Fishery-independent data obtained from the Alaska Fisheries Science Center's (AFSC) West Coast upper continental slope (WCUCS) groundfish trawl surveys are used by fishery managers to assess stock conditions and to establish annual harvest guidelines for the commercially valuable fish species inhabiting the WCUCS.
