In the fall of 2008, NOAA began preparations for a Next Generation StrategicPtarr by convening a multi-disciplinary team of individuals from across the organization to begin thinking about the forces that will shape the world over the next 25 years. Through a series of workshops, this team identified approximately 200 major external forces and trends that could significantly affect NOAA's future through 2035. The team analyzed the degree of uncertainly and potential scope of impact of these forces, and used that analysis to develop three alternative yet equally plausible scenarios of the future. This document details these three scenarios.
