Description:The NOAA Ship Gordon Gunter departed Pascagoula, MS on 28 August 2006 to initiate the Southeast Area Monitoring and Assessment Program (SEAMAP) Fall Plankton Survey in the northern Gulf of Mexico. The SEAMAP Program is a cooperative State/Federal/University program designed to collect biological and environmental data from waters of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. During the Fall survey, plankton samples are collected from a systematic grid of stations to assess distribution, occurrence and abundance of the early life stages of a variety of species of fishes and invertebrates.
