Description:The NOAA Ship Gordon Gunter departed Pascagoula, Mississippi on October 8, 2005 for the thirty-fourth annual Fall Southeast Area Monitoring and Assessment Program (SEAMAP) Shrimp/Bottomfish Survey in the northern and western U.S. Gulf of Mexico. SEAMAP is a state-Federal-university program for the collection, management and dissemination of fishery independent data. The survey was shifted to this vessel because of hull damage to NOAA Ship Oregon II caused by Hurricane Katrina. The primary goal of this survey is to study the abundance and distribution of demersal organisms occurring in the study area.
