Description:This letter transmits the National Marine Fisheries Service’s (NMFS) biological opinion on the United States Army Corps of Engineer’s (USACE) proposed dock replacement project for the Trident Seafood’s bunkhouse in Kodiak, Alaska from March to June, 2024, and its effects on threatened and endangered species in accordance with section 7 of the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended (16 U.S.C. 1531 et seq.). NMFS concludes the proposed action is not likely to jeopardize the continued existence of the Mexico distinct population segment (DPS) humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae), Western DPS Steller sea lions (Eumetopias jubatus), and the proposed sunflower sea stars (Pycnopodia helianthroides). In addition, the proposed action is not likely to adversely affect the designated critical habitat for Mexico DPS humpback whales or Steller sea lions.
