This revised FMP reviews biological, ecological, social and economic aspects of the anchovy and establishes a revised optimum yield (OY) formula, whereby U.S. OY is calculated each year based on an annual estimate of stock abundance. The new formula reflects a new, more cost-effective "egg production methodu of estimating stock abundance, and lower estimated productivity of the anchovy stock.
