Description:

A United States endeavor designed as a prototype of the First GARP Global Experiment, the DST tested some of the observational, data processing and numerical prediction systems planned for the Global Weather Experiment. NMC simulated a data collection, processing, and archiving system and examined the quality of the global data set. Particular emphasis was placed on new data types and their potential impact on operational numerical analyses and forecasts.
