Description:

The 53rd Interdepartmental Hurricane Conference was held from February 8-12, 1999, at the Grand Casino Bayview Resort, Biloxi, Mississippi. As in past years, the conference was structured to review the 1997 tropical cyclone season in the Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and the Pacific Ocean; consider current research in tropical cyclone observing, forecasting, and warning; discuss and codify requirements for the 1998 tropical cyclone season; review activities related to the weather reconnaissance missions of the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron (53 WRS) and the NOAA Aircraft Operations Center; and revise the National Hurricane Operations Plan.
