Description:This paper represents a statistical evaluation of the mean position, standard deviation, and maximum northward and southward positions of the Gulf Stream System landward surface edge. The surface edge is determined for each 0.5° longitudinal transect from 91°-44°W measuring the course of the Gulf Stream System from the Yucatan Strait to the Grand Banks. These statistics are derived from the initial year of the daily Oceanographic Analysis (May 28, 1980 - May 29, 1981), which contains synoptic frontal locations of the Gulf Stream System.
