  This is an updated version of the very popular Foreign Fisheries Leaflet No. 2, issued by the Division of Foreign Fisheries (then the Office of Foreign Fisheries) in February 1969. The purpose of the first issue was to provide, under one cover, information on the shrimp fishing industries of the world in order to answer the most common questions on the subject. Most of the information provided in the 1969 edition came from replies to a request to selected U.S. Embassies and Consulates by the Department of State asking for information requested by the International Shrimp Council. Replies were compiled in this Division and augmented with other materials. The 1969 edition represented the best information then available at the time.
