Description:Thisstudyanalyzesapyrocumulonimbus(pyroCb)thatformednearGreatSlaveLakeinthe NorthwestTerritoriesofCanadaon5August2014usingmultiplesatellite-andground-baseddatasets,meteorologicalreanalysis,andacloud-resolvingmodel.Passiveandactivepolar-orbitinginstrumentsand geostationaryimagerydetailtheintenseupdraftcolumnduringtheseveralhours-longconvectivestage andcapturetheentirepyroCblifecycle.CloudSatradarreflectivityprofilesandlocalsoundingsshowthepyroCbcloudbasewas ≥1kmabovetheliftingcondensationlevel.Comparisonswithprofilesthrough meteorologicalconvectioninthesameregionreaffirmpreviousevidencefordelayeddropletgrowthwithin pyroconvectiveupdrafts.ThepyroCbpenetratedthetropopause,reachingatleast14km( θ≃380K),and
