Description:With this issue of the Federal Plan, this office completes 25 years of service to the Nation in coordination of meteorological activities throughout the Federal Government. This issue provides an analysis of a Fiscal Year 1990 meteorological budget totaling nearly $2 billion. Similar figures for Fiscal Year 1965 totaled just over $300 million. It is clear that members of the Congress correctly foresaw the growing importance of meteorological activities and the need for coordination when they enacted Public Law 87-843. That law required "a horizontal budget showing...the totality of the programs for meteorology ..." This Office and this annual plan are the result.
