Description:In recent years, surface collection and bypass systems have been identified as a viable alternative for increasing fish passage efficiency (FPE) and survival for migrating juvenile salmonids at hydroelectric dams on the Snake and Columbia Rivers. In an effort to increase passage and survival for juvenile salmon, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers installed a removable spillway weir (RSW) at Ice Harbor Dam in spring 2005.
