Description:A climatology of the ice limit and 50 percent concentration boundary in the Bering Sea based on sea ice information available from June 1953 to February 1981 is graphically formatted in terms of probabilities (in percent) of the ice extent. The probabilities are available in semimonthly intervals from October 15 to July 15 for the ice limit and in the same intervals from May 1 to July 15 for the 50 percent ice concentration boundary. They are contoured in 25 percent increments from zero to 100 percent with the zero, 50 and 100 percent isopleths depicting the absolute maximum, median and absolute minimum ice extent, respectively. The purpose for this approach is to provide a basis for prediction of the ice in the long range which may be of some benefit in the seasonal planning of marine operations in the Bering Sea.
