Description:Describes two multi-institutional expeditions in 2002 and 2006 led by the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary (MBNMS) to characterize the geology and natural history of the Davidson Seamount. Addresses a management plan created for the seamount to develop resource protection, education, and research strategies for this area. This taxonomic guide reviews an inventory of benthic and mid-water organisms observed at the seamount in order to provide a baseline taxonomic characterization. 237 taxa are presented, including 15 new or undescribed species. It is intended to be revised as we learn more about the seamount and organisms that live there.
