Description:Throughout the Great Lakes basin, community leaders face the challenge of making long-term management decisions that lead to substantial impacts on ecological integrity and community quality of life. For local decision makers with limited resources, understanding the implications of development and identifying optimal planning strategies to make their communities more resilient—economically, environmentally and socially—requires research, outreach, and monitoring at a larger, basin-wide scale, coupled with local pilot testing and adaptive management.
