Description:This atlas summarizes the results of NOAA's multibeam mapping surveys in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico EEZ through 1991 (Figure 1). All data were collected by NOAA ships MT. MITCHELL and WHITING starting in 1988. The total number of survey days shown in this figure is about 700, corresponding to just over 100,000 nautical miles of trackline. Additional data will be available in the future as mapping continues.
