Description:"Amendment 27 is intended to (1) extend management responsibility of Nassau grouper to the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council in Gulf of Mexico waters: (2) increase the number of allowable crew members on dual-permitted snapper-grouper vessels (vessels holding a South Atlantic Charter/Headboat Permit for Snapper-Grouper and a South Atlantic Unlimited Snapper-Grouper Permit or a 225-Pound Trip Limit Snapper-Grouper Permit) from three to four: (3) remove the prohibition on retention of bag limit quantities of several snapper-grouper species by captain and crew of federally-permitted for-hire vessels; (4) modify the snapper-grouper framework procedure to allow acceptable biological catch levels, annual catch limits, and annual catch targets to be adjusted via an accelerated framework process; and (5) remove blue runner from the Fishery Management Plan for the Snapper-Grouper Fishery of the South Atlantic Region"--Cover letter summary.
