Checklist of the fishes documented from the Zeke's Island and Masonboro Island components of the North Carolina National Estuarine Research Reserve

• Description:
  We report here on the fishes of Masonboro Island and Zeke’s Island NCNERR components together because they are geographically close to one another, similar in habitat types, and they were the focus of our initial fish surveys. Although there are no published accounts of the overall fish faunas of these sites, this general area of North Carolina has been well studied for fishes (e.g., Weinstein 1979, Schwartz et al. 1982), and there have been a number of fish projects within these components (see references).
