Description:This report documents material examined during the course of a study of the first year life history stages of the white hake, Urophycis tenuis, in the Georges Bank-Gulf of Maine area (Fahay et al. in prep.). Published biological studies of hake species in the western North Atlantic are often questioned because of the ; possibility of misidentification of the various species, which resemble each other strongly in all ontogenetic stages.
