Description:The guidance in this document applies to projects located in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. Given significantly different hydrologic conditions, projects in California should refer to: Guidelines for Salmonid Passage at Stream Crossings in California (NMFS 2019). The content herein primarily addresses road crossings and grade control projects, where the bankfull width is 20 ft or less. Projects where the bankfull width is greater than 20 ft may still benefit from the information contained here, but due to scale effects associated with wider channels (Frissell and Nawa 1992), it may not be applicable.
