Description:To complete the production and publication of resource inventories, atlases, and management plans for Truk State (FSM), the Republic of Belau, and the Republic of the Marshall Islands and facilitate the adoption and implementation of management plans throughout Micronesia. Coastal resources maps, inventories, and atlases have been completed for all the major population centers in Micronesia except Truk State in FSM, Arno and Majuro atolls in the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the Republic of Belau. As funds become available through congressional and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers sources, completion of these areas will have top priority. Management Plans, currently being written for Yap State and scheduled for Kosrae State before the end of the year, will be completed in the 1989-91 biennium. After completion of the inventories and plans, a major objective of this program will be the implementation of the management strategies recommended in the plans. This activity will continue through the remainder of the decade and well into the next.
