Description:This report summarizes activities and accomplishments in the coastal planning and development, coastal engineering and design, recreation and tourism, commercial fishing, seafood processing and marketing, consumer fish use and youth education program areas. It is not a complete compendium. It is neither desirable nor practical to fully describe the more than 500 meetings and more than 72,590 direct audience contacts made during 1979 (56,750 by Sea Grant staff and 15,840 by other Cooperative Extension staff as reported in the EMIS system). Rather, selected activities and accomplishments are included to indicate the nature of program directions during 1979. Detailed background information and situational analysis for the major program areas are not included. These may be found in the 1979 Situation Statement and Program Plan. Each of the seven major program areas plus campus-based support and program leadership is described briefly and selected events are 1isted.
