Description:A shortened season on the North Carolina menhaden industry has the potential to permanently reduce industry fish-meal revenues by 8.4 percent and wages accruing to the harvesting sector by 8.4 percent. Within the five years necessary for the menhaden resource to reach a new equilibrium size as a result of the shortened season, industry fish-seal revenues and harvest sector wages are projected to decline by as much as 20.2 percent in the first year and eventually to level off at the 8.4 percent level cited above.
