Description:To develop a better understanding of the interests, motivations, and behavior of Lake Ontario's boating salmonid anglers, a mail survey was conducted; responses from 437 anglers were analyzed. Motivational characteristics, profiles, and changes in motivation of anglers over time were assessed and described, and the potential impacts of the findings for management purposes were discussed. Personal investment theory holds promise as a tool for assessing the motivational differences that distinguish anglers in different market segments.
