Description:As a student project, the biomethanation of seaweed was investigated in an upflow, three phase fluidized bed fermenter, and an economic analysis of a scale-up process was performed. Effects of several operating parameters on the rate of methane production and its mole fraction in the product have been examined, including feed flow rate, seaweed concentration in feed, and reaction temperature. Also considered was the scale-up process of the bioreactor for point application industrial processes.
