Description:Fiscal year 1989-1990 marks Michigan Sea Grant’s twentieth anniversary, an occasion that affords us the opportunity to reflect upon our many accomplishments. As we review the eventful years since 1969, we are struck by the generous cooperation and contributions of many organizations and individuals. We extend our warm appreciation to all those who have worked with Michigan Sea Grant towards Great Lakes preservation and wise use. Over the past two decades Michigan Sea Grant has participated in many phases of Great Lakes research, education, and extension. We have witnessed improvements in the quality of the Great Lakes and changes in the attitudes of the public regarding resource use. This booklet documents some of those changes and improvements, and highlights a few of Michigan Sea Grant’s achievements during its first twenty years. We realize, of course, that our mission is far from over. As we look back with pride at our accomplishments, we also look forward to continued cooperation with Michigan’s citizens, business people, and government personnel. We anticipate working with you in the future toward a safer, healthier, and more enjoyable Great Lakes.
