Description:The objective of this work has been to try to design site-specific, rapidly deployable, oil spill diversion booms which will permit fast removal and cleanup of accidental spills occurring during unloading operations at each of the five New Hampshire terminals (Northeast Petroleum, Mobil Oil, Sprague/Public Service, Fuel Storage Corporation/Defense Fuel Supply Company and Sprague/ATC. The goal has been to design systems which will contain and permit almost immediate removal of the bulk of any likely occurring spill, determined from terminal spill experience on the Piscataqua River to date, before a professional clean-up contractor can arrive on the scene to take over the final cleanup tasks.
