  • Description:
The Florida soft crab fishery is only 3 decades old. Florida Sea Grant's involvement with it began in 1978; an evaluation of the fishery's status was undertaken in 1983 to determine Sea Grant extension activities with regard to future development. A questionnaire distributed to 28 blue crab shedding operations produced a 78.6% response; those findings are reported here. Surveyed were: shedding operations, harvest methods, product types, production and sales data, production costs, and future development needs.
