Description:There are many reasons for controlling, thus monitoring, the interactions between wild and hatchery salmon stocks, and several experiments with genetic marking have been carried out by the Alaska Sea Grant College Program to advance these ends. This report summarizes that work which was, first, to evaluate the efficacy of genetic marking (worthwile), and, second, to begin using it to acquire biological information--in this case to examine the homing precision of hatchery stock (which appears highly accurate).
