Description:The impact of recreational boating in the state of Illinois has been understated. The boating industry in Illinois is considerable and includes not only the participants, but the boat dealers and promoters; the service employees who repair the crafts and engines; the sales staff who offer the myriad of boating accessories; managers of the natural resources; the law enforcement officers that are needed to keep the waterways safe; the public and private natural resources that are used by the boater; and the list goes on. This report attempts to consolidate a collection of secondary data to describe the magnitude of recreational boating in Illinois.
