Description:A proposal concerning the feasibility of establishing a
marketing communications and physical distribution system was made in 1970 by an associate regional director of the Pacific Northwest Region of what is now the National Marine
Fisheries Services, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, United States Department of Commerce. It was 1
thought that such a system should provide a higher return on
coastal fish, especially that from the West coast. Retailers, particularly those in the Midwest in towns of 2,500 or more, would be able to order fresh seafood daily and receive delivery within twenty-four hours through such a system, If established, it should result in higher returns to all members of the system and greater satisfaction to household consumers.
